
The Bhutan Red Cross Society (BRCS) and Thai Red Cross Society (TRCS) share a unique privilege of being led under the blessings of the Royal Families, with members of the Royal Family serving as The President of the National Societies. This extraordinary connection reflects a shared commitment to humanitarian values and strengthens the deep ties between the two National Societies.
Building on this special bond, the Honโble Secretary-General of BRCS recently made a visit to the Thai Red Cross Society to further strengthen collaboration and explore areas of mutual interest.
The main objective of the visit of the two delegation led by the SG besides of developing formal collaboration between the two national societies was to visit the TRCS’s disaster and emergency prepardness systems including a formal visit to the emergency response and prepardness department and centers. This is the second visit from BRCS to TRCS. The first visit was in 2017 while the Working Committee for the formation of BRCS under Royal Command and His Majesty’s Secretariat’s (HMS) initiative was formed and visited TRCS to learn about the establishment of a NS and its Statutes and governance including Royal patronages.
During the visit, the Honโble Secretary General presented an overview of the organizationโs volunteer engagement and its long-term vision under the Strategy 2030. Discussions highlighted key initiatives of BRCS under HMS’s guidance during the COVID-19 response, which earned the National Order of Merit,Gold from His Majesty The King in 2021. BRCS’s thematic focus areas including disaster management, health emergencies, and environmental preservation, were also emphasized, alongside a request for logistical partnership support from the Thai Red Cross.
Meanwhile, the Honorable Secretary-General of the Thai Red Cross expressed readiness to support BRCS after a formal communication in the upcoming months.
