The Bhutan Red Cross Society celebrated its 8th Foundation Day, coinciding with the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, under the global theme โOn the Side of Humanity.โ
This yearโs celebration marked a historic milestone with the launch of the first-ever BRCS Youth Policy. This guiding framework outlines principles, goals, and actions aimed at uplifting the lives of young volunteers across the country. The policy reflects our commitment to nurturing youth leadership, empowering them as agents of change, and ensuring they have the support and opportunities to thrive in their humanitarian journey. It also paves the way for the formation of Red Cross Clubs in colleges, steering a new chapter in youth-led humanitarian action.
In addition, a panel discussion brought together leaders, volunteers, and youth voices who shared reflections on their experiences. Panellists spoke on the essence of humanity and volunteerism, recalling powerful moments from their own volunteering journeys.
As part of the celebration, we also welcomed BRCS College Volunteer Focal and Youth Coordinators from 13 colleges to a two-day Youth Forum. The forum is focused on youth-led humanitarian action and opportunities, featuring inspiring voices from youth leaders. Participants will also undergo hands-on training in Non-Medical First Aid, equipping them with skills to serve their communities more effectively.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Honโble Head of Delegation for IFRC, Country Cluster Delegation in New Delhi, the Honโble Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, representatives from His Majestyโs Secretariat and Ministries, and our volunteers for joining us in commemorating this special occasion.
