Under the Healthy Aging Project, the Bhutan Red Cross Society (BRCS), in collaboration with the Royal Society for Senior Citizens and with guidance from His Majestyโs Secretariat, has distributed 34 portable bedside toilets to eligible beneficiaries in Samtse Dzongkhag today. These individuals, facing critical mobility and economic challenges, including prolonged bedridden conditions, now have access to improved sanitation that ensures comfort and dignity in their daily lives.
Since the distribution began in December this year, a total of 50 portable bedside toilets have been distributed across Thimphu and Samtse Dzongkhags, touching the lives of those most in need. This initiative, complementing the efforts of the Royal Government of Bhutan, reflects our collective commitment to building a compassionate and inclusive society.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Swiss Red Cross for their generous funding support, which made this initiative possible. We also deeply appreciate the dedicated volunteers and Branch Coordinators from Thimphu and Samtse Branches, who visited elderly homes, distributed the toilets, and took the time to understand the unique needs of the beneficiaries.
Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community members.
