Bhutan Red Cross Society(BRCS) provided induction training on ‘Basic Disaster Management and First Aid Training’ to the new volunteers and members of Thimphu.
The objective of the induction program was to familiarize and orient the new volunteers on the mandates of BRCS including the Seven Fundamental Principles and its auxiliary role in three program areas of disaster management, health, and social services.
The Disaster Specialist and volunteer with BRCS, Major Thinley Gyeltshen inducted the volunteers on the disaster risk, disaster scenarios and the volunteer’s role for safer and resilient society.
A First Aid trainer and volunteer with BRCS, Dr. Kipchu Tshering trained the new volunteers on how to attend to common, simple medical situations such as bleeding injuries, sprained ankle or hand , minor cuts ,applying proper pressure when bleeding occurs, choking procedures until medical attention can be obtained.
A total of 80 volunteers attended the programme.
