As part of our ongoing Healthy Ageing Project supported by the Swiss Red Cross, an intergenerational and recreational activity was organised in Samtse, bringing together the wisdom of senior citizens and the vibrant energy of Youth Volunteers from Samtse College of Education.
During the event, senior participants shared life stories and reflections on ageing reminding everyone of the strength, resilience, and insight that come with time. In return, youth volunteers conducted informative sessions on eye health, nutrition, and the importance of physical exercise. A refreshing yoga session led by the youth added to the holistic wellness experience.
Building on these connections, 60 senior citizens and 40 Red Cross youth volunteers participated in recreational activities involving a joint preparation of healthy meals, where traditions and healthy eating practices were passed down across generations. This hands-on exchange strengthened bonds and promoted nutritious habits.
For many senior citizens, this was more than just an event it was a meaningful opportunity to stay active, connect with others, and feel a renewed sense of purpose.
