The assessment report titled โClimate Risk and Socioeconomic Vulnerability Assessment of Shompangkha and Phuntshothang Gewogs in the Southern Beltโ has been published.
The report provides an in-depth analysis of how climate-related hazards intersect with socioeconomic factors, focusing on community exposure, vulnerability, and adaptive capacity, while identifying priority areas for targeted and inclusive interventions. For the Bhutan Red Cross, this assessment serves as critical evidence to strengthen community resilience and guide climate-adaptive programming.
Building on this evidence, BRCS conducted an Inclusive Capacity Building Workshop on Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Water Governance in Shompangkha Gewog, Sarpang Dzongkhag, and Phuntshothang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag.
Over two days, women, youth, and community leaders came together for transformative learning and collective planning. Participants deepened their understanding of local ecosystems, water governance, and the importance of traditional knowledge in conservation. Through interactive sessions, games, and collaborative discussions, communities were empowered to take the lead in environmental stewardship.
